The Communication Associate is the communications lead for Global Health. This applicant is responsible for the creation of all promotional materials. They will work with BCM Communications, Marketing, and Institutional Advancement to promote all activities of Global Health and collaborators. The Communications Associate must be willing to travel locally (less than 10%) and internationally, specifically, to West Africa (one to two times a year.)

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller who is able to articulate multiple reports, photographs, and programs into marketable and promotional data. 

Job Duties

Creative Services:
• Designs and creates promotional, outreach, and reporting materials (Annual Report, newsletters, virtual postcards, foundation grant reports)
• Travels to sites to capture audio and video coverage and creates promotional videos
• Works with Marketing and Communications to ensure that all promotional materials are aligned with BCM’s brand identity
• Writes content for newsletters, social media, website, one-pagers, Annual Report and some grant progress reports
• Contributes content to department website
• Manages video production, creates scripts for interviews, edits, and finds a platform to distribute video to reach as many customers as possible
Social Media:
• Maintains department presence on social media sites, in partnership with the institution’s Social Media Manager
• Manages and analyzes the department’s social media and online presence
Public/Media Relations:
• Organizes promotional events
• Distributes print and online marketing and outreach materials
• Represents Global at professional meetings both domestic and international

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, English, or Journalism
• Excellent skills in PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite
• Well-versed in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and excellent organizational skills
• Self-starter with the ability to manage and oversee multiple projects
• Ability to build strong relationships across multiple teams and cross-culturally
