The Department of Family and Community Medicine provides excellent care, innovative teaching of primary healthcare, and discoveries of new knowledge that contribute to the improvement of processes and outcomes. Affiliated with Harris Health, we provide multidisciplinary healthcare to the medically underserved urban population in the Houston metropolitan area. As champions for the education of medical students, resident physicians, fellows, and faculty, we recognizes the unique needs of students, residents and faculty and work diligently to provide optimum learning experiences for everyone in our department. Our research, education, and clinical faculty members participate in a range of research projects and we value cross-departmental research collaborations, which have included neuroscience, internal medicine, allied sciences, and pediatrics.

 

Supports the administration and operations of clinical, education, and research based sponsored programs. The Research Operations Associate will serve as a project manager in an administrative and coordination capacity, assisting all key personnel and the Principal Investigators with the administrative tasks involved in planning, evaluating, training, grant reporting, and disseminating results.

 

Position is located at the Kirby location.

Job Duties

  • Manages the administrative activities of the sponsored programs to ensure that program goals and objectives at the program and project level are accomplished within the specified timeframe.
  • Drafts and submits research protocols to the Internal Review Board both internal as well as to collaborating institutions.
  • Works with project leadership, faculty and staff, to achieve the project goals and objectives.
  • Creates databases maintains and enters the data for related project participant questionnaires.
  • Prepares reports from databases as needed for management use.
  • Leads the programmatic reporting activities as required by the project sponsor.
  • Tracks and reports to research team project/program goals and objectives and timeline.
  • Plans out agendas for grant meetings and captures action items for implementation.
  • Participates in the procurement process as related to the assigned projects.
  • Carries out tasks using effective organizational and communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Participates in planning and development methods for project implementation, administration, and closeout.
  • May assist in pre award activities such as grant preparation tasks and written materials.
  • Assists manager with tasks as assigned in alignment with the research mission of the department.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. 
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education, Public Health or Healthcare Management/Administration or related filed
  • Relevant experience in project coordination/management, education, public health, and/or healthcare.
