Job Purpose

Manages clinical research staff within the Office of Clinical Research (OCR), which provides centralized support to Investigators who conduct studies at any Baylor location or affiliated hospital (BSLMC, Harris Health - HCHD, VAMC, etc.).  Experience across a variety of disease areas and both device and drug studies a plus.   Oversees the Baylor College of Medicine's policies and research protocols while monitoring budgets and department objectives. This individual must be a flexible and detail-oriented professional who can quickly adapt to a variety of situations.

Job Duties
  • Recruits, supervises, schedules, disciplines, and directs the daily activities of clinical research staff. Develops procedures for administering research.
  • Fosters frank communication within the research staff and between the research staff and manager.
  • Provides timely updates regarding policies, procedures or changes in the College or Research Administration. 
  • Oversees research to ensure research objectives are being met and research activities meet the College and regulatory standards.
  • Prepares study contracts for proper routing to legal affairs, and serves as the primary contact for negotiations of study budgets.  
  • Arranges regular meetings with PI, OCR leadership, and team for update reports and process improvement.
  • May assist in the preparation of grant proposals and other written materials. Prepares activity and budget reports for use by the principal investigator (PI).
  • Acts as liaison between PI and sponsors on regulatory quality control and quality assurance matters. Interfaces with regulatory bodies and other department management as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a basic science or related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Experience in Cardiology studies
  • Experience in device studies
