Title: Business Operations Specialist - Part-time
Summary
The Center for Space Medicine (CSM) is seeking a part-time (20 hours/week) Business Operations Specialist to execute daily administrative operations for the Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH). The Specialist will support TRISH’s research staff in external/internal stakeholder communications, travel, and financial processes. The ideal candidate takes ownership of assigned tasks and completes them accurately/independently with little guidance. The Specialist takes initiative to ensure that the mission critical tasks are completed in a timely fashion while managing multiple priorities. The Specialist will be expected to be proficient in Excel, SharePoint, SAP, Concur, Jaggaer and other Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) business operation applications. The Specialist will support leadership during budget planning, allocation of expenses, and procuring services/supplies.
This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement.
Job Duties
- Performs and oversees daily operations/resources, primarily in the areas of compliance and financial management.
- Develops/prepares reports and conduct analyses for grants, general appropriations, and other funding sources.
- Recommends and implements necessary process improvements and changes.
- Tracks and completes purchasing processes which include supply orders, creating POs, and processing invoices.
- Reviews and approves all accounts payable statements and resolve invoice actions.
- Responsible for supply chain/inventory management.
- Ensures ongoing review and development of process improvements to maximize business productivity within the Center.
- Prepares monthly financial reports from SAP, verifying financial data, running analysis, and consolidating financial figures into standard reports.
- Assists with pre-award and/or post-award related tasks in support of department faculty members.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree. No experience required with Bachelor's degree.
