The ICTR is seeking for a Bioinformatics Programmer II who can assist the implementation of bioinformatics methods and the dissemination of software tools and discoveries, preferably through web interfaces.

Job Duties

  • Develop moderately complex software tools for bioinformatic data analysis, in the format of reusable scripts, and Python or R packages.
  • Develop interactive web interfaces to provide web interfaces to bioinformatics tools, disseminate results to collaborators, or provide services to the scientific community.
  • Assist members of the ICTR with issues on software development, data analysis, and maintenance of computational infrastructure and platforms.
  • Serve all members of the ICTR on a project-by-project basis, with priorities and effort allocation managed by his or her supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Biological Science, or a related field. 
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Biological Science, or a related field may be considered in lieu of the required two years of experience.
  • Proficient in one, preferable both of the scripting languages Python and R. Familiar with a low-level language such as C/C++.
  • Familiar with web development for building web-based interfaces with knowledge in HTML, CSS, Javascript, content management system (e.g. Drupal), web development framework (e.g. FLASK or Django). 
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of software projects, preferably for open-source projects available on platforms such as GitHub and BitBucket.
