The Bioinformatics Analyst will contribute to bioinformatics processing of microbial community data sets derived from Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.

Job Duties
  • Initiation/implementation, troubleshoot, and maintenance of analysis software in support of microbial ecology studies
  • Proactively provide data processing support to multiple metagenomic sequencing projects
  • Track project data and report analysis results
  • Collaboration within the Bioinformatics team and the Project Managers to define software and analysis requirements
  • Plan and organize working with multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience Required: One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Must have experience in scientific programming with applications to biological research and using biological analysis tools for processing and analysis of data
  • Experience with Perl, Bash, Pyhon and R as well as programming using UNIX/LINUX clusters are desirable
  • Broad knowledge of biology, especially microbial ecology and/or genetics
  • Experience with large genomic data sets (Next-generation sequence, genotyping, or expression data), data mining, and data analysis
  • Experience with machine learning and/or artificial intelligence programming a plus
  • Demonstrated independent thinking and problem solving ability
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team
