Title: Behavioral Health Specialist
Summary
The Behavioral Health Specialist will provide evidence based psychotherapy for individuals, families, and groups. This position requires independent, advanced professional work involving medical and psychiatric social case services in the assessment of clients and relatives to obtain social history relevant to medical problems/treatment.
Job Duties
- Interviews clients and relatives to obtain social history relevant to medical problems and history.
- Assesses each client during initial contact.
- Documents progress after client visits.
- Answers client calls and assesses need for services.
- Plans a course of treatment or refers clients to appropriate agencies and physicians.
- Provides evidence-based psychotherapy. (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy).
- Participates in research projects directly or by facilitating success.
- Provides clinical education as appropriate.
- Provides supervision to social work interns and fellows.
- Serves as a liaison between medical and nursing staff, clients, relatives and appropriate outside agencies.
- Arranges transportation for clients to physicians’ appointments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology.
- No experience required.
- Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A).
