Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Health Services Research, is seeking an engaging and enthusiastic Behavioral Health Specialist. The candidate will participate in several ongoing psychotherapy treatment trials testing the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in patients with medical and psychiatric comorbidity. Responsibilities in these projects will include participant clinical assessments, protocol-based clinical care (in person and virtual therapy), safety assessments, and protocol oversight. The person selected will be an engaging and effective communicator who values working with patients to improve their quality of life.

Job Duties

  • Evaluate patients’ mental and physical health conditions to determine eligibility for studies.
  • Enroll and consent patients who are eligible for treatment trials.
  • Engage in outreach activities to identify participants who may benefit from treatment.
  • Work with electronic medical records (CPRS and EPIC) to retrieve patients’ medical history in order to determine eligibility for research studies.
  • Provide both in-person and virtual/phone therapy (ACT, CBT, Psychoeducation) to patients in treatment trial.
  • Adhere to treatment manuals and fidelity checklists.
  • Identify available community resources for patients who are ineligible for studies.
  • Conduct safety assessments (suicide risk assessments) when patient reports significant distress.
  • Complete follow-up visits with patients via phone or in-person.
  • Enter data/information in electronic database and electronic survey tool (REDCAP and QUALTRICS).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology.
  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
