Summary

The Behavioral Health Specialist at Baylor Psychiatry Clinic is responsible for providing individual, couples, and family therapy visits, conducting psychotherapy groups, and overseeing various administrative and educational tasks. The role entails supervising and mentoring junior staff including 1 Behavioral Health Specialist and 1 Social Work Fellow, and collaborating with Baylor Psychiatry Clinic leadership to set clinic goals and implement evidence-based practices. The Behavioral Health Specialist will handle complex cases and work with a multidisciplinary team to develop evidence-based intervention and implementation strategies. The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree, five years of relevant experience, and hold a licensure LCSW-S, LLCSW, or LPC-S.

 

The ideal candidate will have five years of experience demonstrating expertise in complex treatment plans and evidence-based practices.  Will be proficient in providing clinical supervision and mentorship to junior staff.  Have strong leadership and team management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.  Will also have a high level of professionalism and ethical conduct in patient care and familiarity with electronic health records and documentation practices.

 

This position may include an opportunity for a hybrid work environment.  May work in office and remotely.

Job Duties

  • Provides individual, couples, and family therapy visits for patients. 
  • Conducts psychotherapy groups.
  • Oversees patient care services related to psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, emotional support, and group work in the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic.
  • Handles internal psychotherapy referrals and intra-department psychotherapy referrals from other BCM departments/clinics.
  • Manages external psychotherapy referrals.
  • Assists in psychotherapy matches for FT clinicians, psychology interns, psychiatry residents, social work intern(s), and social work fellow(s).
  • Supervises SW Fellow and SW Intern, including 1:1 weekly supervision meetings, preparation of curriculum, reviewing progress notes, and conducting consultation meetings. 
  • Develops evidence-based practices and ensures their implementation.
  • Collaborates with Baylor Psychiatry Clinic leadership to set departmental goals, policies, and referral processes.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and recommend staff training.
  • Handles complex and high-risk cases that require advanced expertise.
  • Assists in the recruitment and hiring of new behavioral health specialists.
  • Represents the department and/or organization in collaborative partnerships.
  • Ensures documentation is accurately entered into the electronic health record and meets consistent deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology.
  • No experience required.
  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of relevant experience.
