Summary

The Department of Psychiatry is recruiting for a full time position which will provide assessment and therapy services to children and adolescents with mental health and substance use problems at community health clinics of Harris Health System.  This position is responsible for diagnosing mental health and substance use disorders according to DSM IV Diagnostic Criteria, treating mental health disorders, providing individual, group, and family counseling, and referring patients to substance abuse treatment facilities.

 

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team, excellent organizational and time management skills, excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Have working knowledge of client/community resources and experience in developing relationships with same, the ability to work independently, computer skills--Microsoft Word, Excel and EPIC (electronic medical
record), and be bilingual in English and Spanish.

 

This position is located at the Pasadena Clinic 3925 Fairmont Parkway Pasadena, TX 77504.  This is a hybrid position which will allow for some remote and for some in office work.

 

Job Duties

  • Provides assessments for behavioral health problems for patients referred by health care providers at community clinics: elective appointments or walk-ins of patients in crisis or with urgent needs.
  • Develops treatment plans for patients to address their mental health and substance use problems.
  • Provides therapeutic interventions of individual, group and family therapy for mental health and substance use problems.
  • Liaisons with physicians, nurses, and psychiatry staff regarding patient care and treatment.
  • Completes required documentation and statistical reporting in a timely manner.
  • Provides curbside consultations to the primary care team.
  • Accommodates walk-in patients in crisis or with urgent needs.
  • Attends center staff meetings as required.
  • Attends CBHP faculty meetings.
  • Attends training classes or orientations as required by Harris County Hospital District (HCHD) or the college.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology.
  • No experience required.
  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Experience in diagnosing mental health and substance use disorders according to DSM V Diagnostic Criteria.
  • Experience in treating mental health disorders.
  • Experience providing individual, group, and family counseling.
  • Familiarity with and experience in referring patients to substance abuse treatment facilities.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
