Job Purpose

Under the direction of the Director of Student and House Staff Mental Health Services at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), and as a part of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), will provide direct clinical services including assessments, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and discharge planning to students, residents and fellows at BCM.

Job Duties

  • Interviews/assesses clients to obtain history relevant to medical/psychological/social challenges.
  • Plans a course of treatment or refers clients to appropriate agencies and physicians.
  • Works in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including external partners.
  • Conducts independent psychotherapies to assist patients in achieving positive psychological or social adjustments.
  • Maintains weekly scheduled appointments and completes required documentation and paperwork including biopsychosocial assessments, treatment planning and implementation in a timely manner.
  • Documents client progress in our electronic records systems called Epic.
  • Answers client calls and assesses need for services.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency and commitment to patients.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology.
  • No experience required.
  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of relevant clinical experience.
  • Full clinical licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by The Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners (TSBSWE), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by The Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS).
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatments necessary.


  • Services will be provided both in person and via tele-therapy.
  • Position is full time and a portion of the hours will be after 5:00 pm and potentially on weekends to increase access for the clinical population.
