Summary

The Department of Psychiatry is recruiting for a Part-Time Position that will provide assessment and therapy services to patients with mental health and substance use problems at community health clinics of Harris Health.

 

This part-time position is located at the Gulfgate Clinic 7550 Office City Drive, Houston, TX 77012.

Job Duties

  • Provides behavioral health assessments for patients referred by healthcare providers at community clinics: during elective appointments, walk-in visits for patients in crisis or with urgent needs.
  • Develops treatment plans for patients to address their mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Delivers therapeutic interventions for individuals, groups, and families addressing mental health and substance use concerns.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and psychiatry staff regarding patient care and treatment planning.
  • Completes required documentation and statistical reporting in a timely manner.
  • Provides consultation to healthcare providers and staff on behavioral health issues.
  • Attends clinic staff meetings as required.
  • Accommodates walk-in patients in crisis or with urgent needs.
  • Coordinates the provision of patient care services related to such aspects as psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, and emotional support, group work.
  • Works to promote optimum mental and emotional health.
  • Assesses and diagnoses clients’ mental status through interviews and observations, and develops treatment plans or makes referrals to the appropriate services.
  • Provides crisis intervention services to clients who are a danger to themselves or others.
  • Contributes to client care by participating in clinical staff meetings to review client progress and treatment plans, and report caseload activities to supervisor.
  • Ensures documentation is entered into the electronic health record and deadlines for completion are met consistently.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulatory standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT),  Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor (LCSW-S), Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
