St. Luke's Health-Brazos port Cancer Center is a full service, multidisciplinary cancer center providing high-quality radiation and chemotherapy services for the citizens of Brazoria, Matagorda, and surrounding counties. The Cancer Center offers preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic strategies and is equipped with leading-edge radiation technology, an infusion suite, a private lab for quick results, and compassionate physicians to help you fight the battle of cancer.
The cancer center is seeking to add a Nurse Practitioner to the team to better serve the needs of the surrounding communities. The ideal candidate will have prior background in Hematology/Oncology as well as outpatient clinic experience &excel at developing patient-provider relationships.
The position will function in a clinic setting under the supervision of an on-site full-time physician to provide advanced nursing care to patients.
Job Duties
- Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.
- Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
- Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
- Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician.
- Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patientcare.
- Serves as a clinical expert to the interdisciplinary team.
- Incorporates and disseminates research findings and evidence-based practice into treatment plans, protocols, and guidelines.
- Collaborates with providers, and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education Required: Master's degree in Nursing.
- Experience Required: Oncology
- Experience Preferred: Hematology/Oncology, outpatient
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as
- an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), and specialty certification as required by department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Effective communication skills
- Able to facilitate change
