Summary
The Associate Division Director will represent the Division Director as delegated (e.g., attend meetings, functions, etc.) and will be assigned areas of responsibility and authority by the Division Director (e.g., develop structure for the division, chair and hoc committees, mentorship of junior leadership, etc.).
In the event the Division Director is unavailable to fulfill the duties due to illness, vacation or travel, an Associate Division Director may be temporarily delegated the responsibilities of the Division Director until the Division Director is able to return to duty. Should the Division Director's position be vacated, the Associate Division Director may temporarily fulfill the Division Director's duties until a replacement is identified.
A faculty member will be appointed by and reports to the Division Director with the approval of the Service Chief. The faculty member will fulfill the Associate Division Director role in addition to his/her clinical, research and professional education functions.
Division Director
Each division will be led by a Division Director in collaboration with an administrator. A faculty member will be appointed as the Division Director by and reports to the Service Chief to fulfill the Division Director role in addition to his/her clinical, research and professional education functions. Division Directors appointments will be reviewed annually.
In collaboration with the Division Administrator, the Division Director is responsible for the following division-specific activities throughout TXCH:
- Coordinates the activities within the division and interfaces/collaborates with activities in concert with Center Directors
- Supports, advises, coordinates and regulates the division's activities across the centers
- Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of SOP's/guidelines for the organization (i.e., evidence-based guidelines)
- Monitors the overall performance quality of the division
- Develop operational performance enhancement measures to improve productivity and service delivery
- Ensures appropriate coverage, participation and coordination of faculty, trainees and staff in division activities and operations
- Ensures that the TXCH meets or exceeds the requirements of regulatory or oversight entities
- Provides input regarding performance of faculty, trainees and staff to the appropriate supervisor
- Provides input into faculty, fellow and staff selection, recruitment and personnel actions
- Assists in the planning and management of the finances of the division
- Provides advice, input and direction in budget development and tracking (revenues and expenses)
- Develops financial performance management/enhancement measures
- Problem-solves to improve financial outcomes
- Ensures effective communication within the division and between the division and other groups in the organization
- Works with centers to accomplish program goals and support center resource needs given availability
- Represents the activities, interests and concerns of their division to Leadership
- Works with leadership of various supporting and other external institutions to support the goals of the organization
- Advises the Division Administrator in the allocation of resources
- Assesses the information technology and informatics needs of the division and advocates for suitable resources
