Summary

The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an MD/PhD investigator who has training in cancer research. The investigator will work alongside Dr. Camp leading GI cancer research projects. This individual will make decisions and take responsibility for scientific progress and help manage lab teams involved in GI cancer research projects. 

Job Duties

  • Manage project progress and execution of project goals and milestones. 
  • Plan and direct research experiments.
  • Develop research techniques and perform applications required for specific research projects.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Document results of experiments and reports to principal investigator.
  • Supervise, schedule and coordinate the activities of the research team involved in multiple research projects.
  • Write progress reports, manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Manage data and statistical analysis.
  • Mentor residents/fellows/trainees/students providing guidance in study methodology, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript writing and presentation.
  • Collaborate with researchers across departments or at other national or international institutions and actively search for intramural and extramural funding opportunities and lead grant applications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.D./Ph.D. in cancer research is required.
  • Successful track record of collaboration with clinical investigators and in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Accomplished academic record sufficient to fulfill criteria for an Associate Professor level faculty appointment at Baylor College of Medicine.
