Job Purpose

As a member of the Office of Institutional Advancement, this individual will oversee the patient story program, the web and social media strategy and select communication projects for the Office of Institutional Advancement. Reports to the Assistant Vice President, Annual Giving and works very closely with the other Office of Institutional Advancement groups and the Marketing department. Works in cooperation with the Office of Institutional Advancement and Marketing to effectively use published materials and electronic media to cultivate, solicit, recognize and steward constituents of the institution and its related entities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for patient story program, part of the grateful patient program
    • Organize, coordinate and facilitate patients for events, programs, campaigns, photo shoots, communication materials
  • Liaison to the Marketing team
    • Web, video, media, social media, creative services, internal communication, etc.
  • Drafts select letters for the Office of Institutional Advancement
  • Should be able to write select executive leadership talking points for events
  • Drafts select donor acknowledgment letters
  • Oversees editorial content and select writing processes for newsletters (grass roots, corporate facing, high-end donors, and planned giving)
  • Creates and manages Editorial Calendar
    • Delivery dates/production schedules, mailing list criteria, work with Creative Services teams
  • Works with Marketing  team to ensure the web and social media content is regularly updated and reflects donor audience
    • Assist in website redesign and updates
    • Manages Facebook page
  • With fundraising team, is responsible for online web giving – works closely with senior web specialist in Marketing to encourage web giving and meet fundraising goals
  • Responsible for all print, electronic (e-blasts) and video materials 
    • Oversee e-newsletter and targeted e-blasts
    • Content for Planned Giving e-newsletter
  • Assists with the management of communication efforts for national, regional and corporate alliance campaigns
  • Provides content recommendations for Direct Mail and Planned Giving print pieces (patient & donor stories, photos)
  • Interviews patient families, physicians, nurses and other faculty/staff so that patient stories are accurate and compelling
  • Works with the Marketing Creative Services team to produce quality newsletters, invitations, flyers and other print pieces for our events
    • Develops a comprehensive inventory of creative materials
    • Develops a central filing system for all creative materials – inventory and track editorial articles and featured subjects
    • Uses creative materials to enhance campaigns year-round
    • Proactively tracks fundraising campaigns with annual giving officers
    • Develops a communication and marketing plan for each event/campaign and implement and track placements and impressions of messages
    • Develops a check-list for each project, so we are maximizing the placements in an efficient and effective manner
  • Responsible for ensuring that the brand is used correctly in all print and electronic pieces
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Required: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Experience: Required: Two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: Preferred:

  • Experience working in a fundraising environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of social media strategies is preferred.
