Title: Associate Attorney
Job Purpose
Assisting the General Counsel in managing the College’s legal risk in labor & employment matters and in other areas relevant to a health sciences university, including real estate, education, clinical, intellectual property, finance, corporate, and others.
Job Duties
- Providing legal assistance in drafting and negotiating legal documents of all types.
- Drafting, negotiating, reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting customer, vendor, and partner contracts.
- Managing outside counsel in litigation matters and coordinating internal requirements in connection with litigation.
- Studying and interpreting laws, court decisions, ordinances, and other legal authorities, as needed, to deliver the foregoing services.
- Rendering legal advice to the General Counsel, other members of the college’s leadership/management group.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Five years of experience in a risk management office handling claims/litigation and five years of corporate or law firm experience as a licensed attorney.
- Current licensure to practice law in the State of Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in labor & employment matters, including employment disputes and general contractual matters (experience with employment contracts, confidentiality agreements, and non-disclosure agreements; experience with higher education matters).
