Summary

This new role will assist the Department Administrator serving as a Deputy Administrator. The role is expected to act with full authority in the absence of the Department Administrator. In addition, this position works closely with Department Chair and Vice Chairs as well as TCH administrative leadership.  Oversees multiple service lines to ensure programs are delivered effectively, efficiently, and securely. As a senior strategy advisor to the Department Administrator, this position assists in the planning, organization, direction, evaluation, and improvement of healthcare operations, research administration and operations programs, human capital efforts, and fiscal accountability. Reporting directly to the Department Administrator, the role will serve as a leader and influence within the organization. Currently, the Department of Pediatrics has in excess of 1,000 faculty and an overall budget of $500+ million.  

 

This position may be eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement after an orientation and training period.

Job Duties

  • Operational oversight working closely with Division Chiefs, Division Administrators, and TCH Practice Administrators in the following areas – CCM, PEM, PHM, Newborn, Palliative Care, Infectious Disease, Resident Programs, GME Programs totaling faculty count of 470, and an aggregate budgeted activity in excess of $181 million. Includes financial management, talent management, and mission operations.
  • Financial Management.
    • Oversees financial operations to ensure adherence to prudent and generally accepted accounting practices.
    • Advocates for and communicates high standards, holding staff and faculty accountable to Department and College financial management policies.  
    • Analyzes financial reports and provides guidance and recommendations for action to the Department Administrator.
  • Talent Management
    • Working closely and in coordination with Department HR Administrator.
    • Acts as a thought partner to the Department Administrator to define and operationalize an administrative structure conducive to meeting and exceeding Department goals.
    • Engages with College Human Resources leaders to enhance two-way communication and connect policy and programs with Department application.
    • Designs Department processes, in collaboration with the Department Administrator, to align with College policy and enhance the employee experience.
    • Assists with Department employee relation matters as necessary. 
  • Mission Operations
    • Research
      • Works closely with Division Leaders and RRO administration as needed.
    • Clinical
      • Works closely with Division and TCH Administrative Leaders on clinical practice needs, productivity, patient satisfaction, and provider satisfaction.
    • Education
      • Works closely with Division and Department leaders related to training programs.
  • Leads Department projects as necessary including but not limited to providing primary direction and assessment of Department SOP’s and workflow in all mission areas.  Provides general direction and guidance to Divisions Chiefs and Division Administrators.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Eleven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and seven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience may also be considered.
  • Working knowledge and experience with affiliate hospital systems.
  • Strong communication skills and analytical skills.
