Full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Clinical Professor in Pediatric Dentistry. Operating Room experience is required.  Must be comfortable with working with special needs, children, and Hospital Dentistry.

Job Duties

The expectations of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Infant oral health exams, which include risk assessment for caries in mother and child
  • Preventive dental care including cleaning and fluoride treatments
  • Habit counseling (for example, pacifier use and thumb sucking)
  • Early assessment and treatment for straightening teeth and correcting an improper bite (orthodontics)
  • Repair of tooth cavities or defects
  • Diagnosis of oral conditions associated with diseases such as diabetes, congenital heart defect, asthma, hay fever, and attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder
  • Management of gum diseases and conditions including ulcers, short frenulae, mucoceles, and pediatric periodontal disease
  • Care for dental injuries (i.e. fractured or displaced teeth)
  • Examine, diagnose, treat and counsel patients of all ages (especially children) in various stages of oral health
  • Deliver instructions in oral hygiene and methods of preventing the spread of oral disease
  • Discuss treatment options with patients
  • Provide direction and guidance to dental assistants and other support personnel

Minimum Qualifications

  1. DDS/DMD from an ADA-accredited Dental School
  2. Pediatric Dentist certification
  3. Minimum 1-year dental practice experience 
  4. Must be comfortable with working with special needs, children, and Hospital Dentistry.  
  5. Active Texas Dental License
