Baylor College of Medicine and Department Summary:

Baylor College of Medicine is accepting applications for a part-time, benefits-eligible Staff Dentist, primarily responsible for providing comprehensive pediatric and general dentistry in a multi-disciplinary dental group practice.


Examine, evaluate radiographs and scans, diagnose and treat patients requesting dental/oral care; prescribe and perform broad-scope dental/oral treatment services, and/or refer individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in concordance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.

Job Duties

  • Provide culturally-competent, evidence-based, patient-centered dental treatment; prescribe and carry out, or direct others in carrying out, health promotion and disease prevention, and refer patients for specialty consultation or treatment in concordance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Diagnose and formulate treatment plans, discuss risks, benefits and alternatives of treatment, perform broad-scope general dental treatment including intra-coronal restorations, crown and bridge, implant dentistry and digital dentistry. Strong clinical experience with pediatric dentistry.
  • Complete a comprehensive treatment record, including but not limited to health history, treatment notes, referrals, informed consent, and other needed documentation related to patient care, in concordance with clinical protocols and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Engage and interface with faculty providers to streamline continuity of care that is comprehensive and efficient. Serve as clinical representative for Baylor Dentists and cultivate long-term rapport with Baylor community physicians and other dental providers to optimize referrals and encourage the integration of oral health as a needed aspect of overall health.
  • Actively participate in and/or deliver continuing education, professional development, mentoring, and in-service learning in collaboration with faculty dentists and staff.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, policies, and protocols governing the clinical provision of dental care including but not limited to: workplace safety, confidentiality, and staff.
  • Perform other tasks to achieve organizational and Practice Plan goals and objectives, including periodic review of clinical productivity, as assigned by the Director and/or Associate Medical, Executive Leadership, or the Practice Leader.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Texas State Dental License
  • DDS/DMD degree from CODA-accredited dental school. Completion of an accredited advanced training program and/or certificate (AEGD, GPR), preferred.
  • Current CPR (BLS) certification, ACLS, Nitrous certification, preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient experience with Electronic Health Record systems, digital imaging.
