Summary

The Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking a scientist to join our Surgical Research of Basic Research Program at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH), Feigin Center. Substantial resources will be available to a successfully recruited candidate to further grow and develop a nationally prominent research program.


Ideal candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology related field, completed a successful post-doctoral training in reputable research institutions, and expect excellence in research and a range of opportunities as a faculty. Our division focuses on the treatment of multi-organ fibrosis and congenital diseases, aiming to help our pediatric patients and their families. Specific interest in extracellular matrix biology and immunology are desirable.

Job Duties

As a member of this multidisciplinary team, you will develop an active research program focused in the area of multi-organ fibrosis and pediatric related diseases using mouse, human genetics, and biochemical approaches. This includes:

  • Submitting grants, obtaining grant funds, and maintaining a well-funded laboratory.
  • Publishing papers in high impact journals from research in your own laboratory while collaborating with others.
  • Presenting work in high levels of research and medical conferences, increasing eminence for BCM/TCH research.
  • Mentoring students, technicians, postdocs, and staff scientists.
  • Performing experiments relevant to your area of expertise when necessary.
  • Working closely with investigators and trainees in the Division of Pediatric Surgery.
