Title:  Assistant Professor - Cardiology

Division:  Pediatrics
Work Location:  West Campus, Houston, TX
Requisition ID:  3190

This position will be a research faculty position within the section of Cardiology focusing on leveraging detailed mathematical models of the cardiovascular system to provide quantitative insights into complex congenital heart disease (CHD).

This type of research will include, but is not limited to, the construction and study of 3D fluid-structure interactions of the human heart with various forms of CHD, construction of real-time, closed-loop simulations of the human vascular system, and construction of patient-specific model geometries from 3D and 4D cardiac imaging.

Successful candidates will have a strong track record of publications in applied mathematics with a research focus on building mathematical simulations of cardiovascular hemodynamics, with emphasis on children with complex congenital heart disease.  Candidates are expected to publish in peer-reviewed journals, submit, attend and present at applicable national conferences, and compete for research funding from the NIH and large research foundations. This will be a joint appointment with Rice University in the department of Computational and Applied Mathematics with a teaching load of one class per semester.
