Summary
The Laboratory of Glial Biology in the Center for Cancer Neuroscience has an opening for Assistant Lab Director. Will primarily be responsible for managing and coordinating day-to-day operations in the lab. Responsibilities include team management, good interpersonal and communication skills with critical thinking and accurate record keeping for a highly collaborative research group.
Job Duties
- Ensure the smooth functioning of laboratory operations on a daily basis.
- Maintain stock levels, reorder supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage and organization of lab supplies.
- Monitor and enforce lab safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Prepare and set up equipment scheduled for use.
- Manage all accounting related tasks using lab funding including ordering, receipts and invoices.
- Support PIs in recruiting and onboarding new team members, and provide training in basic and translational research as well as laboratory techniques.
- Supervise lab technicians in various laboratory duties.
- Oversee all animal colony management and related costs.
- Monitor adherence to animal protocols set by IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee).
- Arrange service calls for equipment and keep inventory.
- Perform other benchwork and animal experiments as needed working with the lab members.
- Supervise technician in lab to ensure proper functioning of animal colony.
- Perform other job related duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.

- Experience in research lab that demonstrate their abilities in essential lab techniques and working with laboratory mice
- Experience with lab management
