Summary
The Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor College is Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an open Assistant Coordinator, Ophthalmic Technology position. The person assuming this role will provide clinical support to our optometrists, ophthalmologists and specialty contact and device fitters. This position provides customer service to optometry patients including explanation of costs and obtaining of insurance authorizations for services.
This position is located at our McNair Campus.
Job Duties
Performs patient work-ups including history, medication reconciliation, and ophthalmic testing including:
- Conducts Wavefront Aberrations.
- Performs Corneal Topography/Tomography testing.
- Performs Optical Biometry testing.
- Performs Corneal Pachymetry testing.
- Manifests refractions and/or auto refraction.
- Performs Tonometry testing.
- Performs insertion and removal of contact lenses or optical devices.
- Answers phone messages and patient questions.
- Prepares and maintains patient rooms in clinic.
- Schedules patient appointments and prepares patient charts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience in an optometry or ophthalmology clinical practice.
Work Authorization Requirement:
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
