Summary

This position has a partial purpose of this Assistant Coordinator, Clinical Research position is to carry out various supervised activities in the laboratory of Dr. Pflugfelder and the will be to trained by clinical research staff on how to interface with the clinical research and have patient direct contact related to clinical trials. This position will give the hired staff the experience with the basic science laboratory as well as the clinical research processes.

 

This position is an outstanding opportunity for career development for recent science graduates interested in biomedical research and/or future advanced degree training in the biomedical sciences or medicine or clinical research.

Job Duties

  • Cleans laboratory equipment used in the ocular surface lab.
  • Retrieves, washes, dries, sterilizes, and resdistributes laboratory glassware.
  • Plans, directs, and conducts supervised research experiments.
  • Documents results of experiments and report to principal investigator and during lab meetings.
  • Contributes to maintenance of lab equipment and the general lab environment.
  • Contacts patients with reminders for study appointments and provides administrative support for ongoing studies.
  • Learns how clinical research studies are run, including regulatory support, monitoring visits, and performing multiple ophthalmic testing for patients enrolled in studies. 
  • Learns and becomes proficient with techniques related to ocular surface biology as well as learn opthalmic testing required for clinical research.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • No experience required.
