The Division of Educational Evaluation, Assessment, and Research within the School of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an Evaluation and Assessment Associate. The Associate will work under the supervision of the Director/Senior Manager for Evaluation, Assessment, Educational Research, and in collaboration with medical school leadership, faculty, and professional staff. Work will include collaborative administration of learning assessments including computer-based knowledge exams, and online medical student evaluation surveys. While faculty and professional staff with relevant expertise will contribute the primary content of these evaluations and assessments, the Associate will have primary responsibility for the design and ongoing management of the processes related to their administration. Detail-oriented candidates with very strong abilities in complex work process development, teamwork, and quality improvement will be well-suited to the position.

Job Duties

  • Serves as NBME Chief Proctor, and manage processes related to the administration on NBME examinations for the School of Medicine.
  • Provides training and serves as lead for administration of sub-groups of course evaluations and assessments, using an online evaluation/assessment system (eValue).
  • Collaborates with the Director/Senior Manager and Senior Evaluation and Assessment Data Analyst as needed to manage completion of the team’s qualitative analysis responsibilities, i.e. analyzing text-based course evaluation data to identify and report on emergent themes related to course improvement.
  • Administers billing processes associated with NBME and other medical school examinations using business administration systems (including SAP).
  • Contributes to the team’s administration of meetings – including student/faculty curriculum evaluation lunches – aimed at collecting additional information for curricular improvement.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director/Senior Manager and other medical school faculty and staff to improve processes for the administration of evaluations and assessments such as knowledge and skills examinations.
  • Works directly with other teams from the medical school – e.g. Curriculum Office, Registrar’s Office, Clinical Coordinators, Admissions, IT – to obtain student information on complex projects and assignments using scheduling systems, software for word processing, and self-developed spreadsheets to process and store evaluation and assessment outcomes data.
  • Sends clear, accurate and comprehensive communications to medical students, faculty, and curricular leadership regarding assessment and evaluation processes and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in education, health science, business, other relevant graduate-level training.
  • Five years of relevant administrative experience.  
  • Explains facts, policies and practices related to job area to internal stakeholders and counterparts.
  • Communicates with contacts both within and outside of job area on matters that require some explanation or interpretation.
  • Candidates will have a collaborative orientation, demonstrated experience in complex work process development, experience in managing complex work schedules, an ability to communicate in a detailed and accurate manner, and experience with quality improvement.
  • Candidates will also have data management, data processing, and data interpretation skills, including intermediate to advanced skills in software programs such as EXCEL or a comparable spreadsheet or data processing program.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment.
