Summary
Hospital Based Services is seeking qualified Certified Anesthesia Assistant candidates to provide services at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. Under the direction of an attending anesthesiologist, an anesthesiologist assistant will assist in perioperative patient management, including the performance of the preoperative anesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anesthesia, and postoperative anesthesia care. These responsibilities may be carried out in the operating room, cardiac catheterization lab, intensive care unit, radiology suites, endoscopy suites, or other places in hospital designated by the attending anesthesiologist.
Job Duties
- Administers all forms of anesthesia including inhaled, intravenous, neuraxial, and regional, for surgical or medical procedures.
- Assesses and evaluates patients prior to the administration of anesthesia to formulate anesthetic plan.
- Inserts and uses invasive and noninvasive monitors, as indicated.
- Responds to emergency/code situations to provide airway management.
- Documents anesthetic information and patient condition.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: Master's degree from an accredited Anesthesiology Assistant Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Note: Bachelor's degree in Anesthesiology Assistant accepted for those certified prior to 1998.
- Experience: None required.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration Required: National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
