Job Title:  Echocardiograph Technologist

Salary Range:  $79,092 to $93,049
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

Echocardiographers, use non-invasive cardiovascular technology equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart and blood vessel conditions. The Echocardiograph Technologist should have excellent communication skills in order to convey scientific information on patient condition and diagnostics to doctors, should have good bedside manner for dealing with patients and professional attitude with Physicians, colleagues and ancillary staff. Report to Clinic Manager and include Medical Director in all technical aspects of the job. 

 

Echocardiographers are imaging the heart to evaluate chamber size, valve function and blood flow. They review patient files and must be familiar with most cardiac conditions in order to recognize and identify abnormalities and alert Physicians for any life threatening conditions. 

Job Duties

  • May perform research echocardiographic exams and collaborate with others to identify and follow research protocol for numerous studies.
  • Recognizes and identifies complex anatomy and physiology, diagnosing dextrocardia, heterotaxy syndrome, etc.
  • Performs complex quantification analysis and remain up-to-date with the most recent technology and software available for cardiac quantification.
  • Performs three dimensional (3D) echo reconstruction and collects data.
  • May analyze strain rate and strain imaging for advanced function studies and collect data for statistical analysis.
  • Provides age appropriate care for adults
  • Explains procedures to patients. 
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and exam rooms clean at all times while keeping the rooms stocked with linens.
  • Performs Trans-Thoracic echo, stress echo, and echo oncology.
  • Performs the Echo for different research teams and follows their protocols.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Required: Associate's degree from an accredited training program through an accredited institution.
  • Experience Required: Three years of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration Required: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in biological science with emphasis on anatomy and physiology.
