Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Neurology is seeking a qualified and motivated Clinical Research Associate to support  daily operations for a research study or clinical trial. The ideal candidate will also support in clinical and computational research in epilepsy. The incumbent will work closely with the Principal Investigator and multi-site collaborators to coordinate studies, manage research data, and support technology-enabled research initiatives. The role combines traditional research coordination activities with advanced data and programming tasks, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to large-scale neuroscience and artificial intelligence projects.  Recruits, screens, and enrolls study participants.

Job Duties

Clinical Research Operations &  Coordination 50%

 

  • Interviews, screen and recruits patients for study; explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study.
  • Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database. May perform Venipuncture (blood draws), EKGs/ECG’s and obtain vital signs on study participants.
  • May collect, process, ship, and maintain paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol. 
  • Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies. Schedules research participant for tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
  • Retrieves and submits test results to appropriate party. May correspond with patient throughout study. Orders supplies and equipment.

 

Data Collection & Analysis 50%

 

  • Maintains databases and digital tools for participant tracking, study documentation, and data analysis.
  • Coordinates integration of EHR data, research platforms, and computational tools.
  • Supports dashboards and digital tools to support participant tracking, documentation, and study monitoring.
  • Supports secure data transfer and integration between institutional systems, ensuring compliance with data privacy.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or a related field preferred. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with SQL and relational database management.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including JavaScript, HTML, and PHP.
  • Experience with Python for data analysis, statistical programming, data visualization, or automation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare data integration.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or supporting databases, data pipelines, dashboards, and digital research tools.
  • Knowledge of data validation, quality assurance, and secure data management practices.
  • Familiarity with REDCap, clinical research databases, or other research informatics platforms preferred.
  • Understanding of HIPAA, data privacy requirements, and regulatory compliance in research settings.
  • Exposure to clinical research, healthcare, academic medicine, or human subjects research is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with investigators, clinicians, research staff, and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, or visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, R, Python, or similar tools is a plus.
