Summary
The Business Strategy & Development Associate will be supervised directly by the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) Vice President of Hospital Operations and Quality Improvement (VP of HOQI) and responsible for enhancing communication, project facilitation to drive organizational improvements, and striving for high reliability and quality of care between Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center (BSLMC) and BCM. This position supports hospital operations and quality improvement initiatives by analyzing performance metrics, developing dashboards, and identifying opportunities to enhance inpatient services. Collaborates with executive leadership and clinical teams to facilitate strategic projects, improve communication between BCM and BSLMC, and drive data-informed decision-making.
Job Duties
- Manage strategic projects and long-term goals at the direction of the VP of HOQI that positively impact the BCM/BSLMC joint venture relationship.
- Strengthen existing and forge new relationships to enhance visibility and impact between BCM and BSLMC.
- Attend and audit inpatient unit-level multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) daily, communicate with unit leadership to identify areas for targeted process improvement, and assess unit performance via criteria set at the national level.
- Report to BSLMC Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Operating Officer at daily executive huddle on MDR performance.
- Present to BCM/BSLMC executive leadership and relevant community partners to improve interorganizational communication and collaboration.
- Liaise with BCM department chairs at the direction of the VP of HOQI to support hospital based projects.
- Facilitate the creation and management of departmental dashboards for inpatient service lines at BSLMC.
- Address opportunities for improvement in inpatient services at the departmental level, providing data analytics and project support.
- Distribute regional and BSLMC facility-level quality reports to BCM physicians monthly.
- Explore opportunities to further align the BCM/BSLMC joint venture relationship by engaging other organizations with optimal structures and incorporating best practices.
- Regularly attend BCM and BSLMC committee meetings related to quality improvement, medical staff operations, and organizational alignment, including steering committees focused on reducing average length of stay and readmissions in keeping with national goals.
- Investigate opportunities to increase the exchange of relevant information between organizations using a combination of data analytics tools.
- Research, write, and present executive program summaries, business cases, and proposals.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
