Summary
A full-time bioinformatics analyst II position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Angela Yu located in the Therapeutic Innovation Center (THINC), a center of excellence at BCM that seeks to discover fundamental mechanisms of gene control and to translate these discoveries into early therapeutic development. Our group aims to reveal mechanisms of RNA regulation during RNA synthesis and how these may be disrupted in disease, utilizing high-throughput experiments and machine learning. We are looking for a motivated, hard-working individual to curate and analyze datasets and build machine learning models.
Job Duties
Under the direction of the Principle Investigator:
- Collect, compile, analyze, and model data in a high quality and detailed manner
- Ensure all procedures and outcomes are accurately and thoroughly documented in an easily accessible manner
- Code primarily in Python - Ensure lab and shared computing resources are properly maintained
- Read the background literature necessary to conduct their duties
- Engage in a collaborative lab environment and promote positive group dynamics
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- One years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with Python, RNA sequencing data, RNA structure, RNA regulation, and/or machine learning.
