Summary
The Department of Pediatrics-Hematology is currently seeking an Assistant Professor.
Scope of Practice
Clinical Duties
- Manage outpatient and/or inpatient care for patients with inherited and acquired bone marrow failure syndromes, telomere biology disorders, and related hematologic conditions in a tertiary pediatric hospital setting.
- Participate in inpatient attending, consultation, night and weekend call, and rounding responsibilities as assigned.
- Provide complex diagnostic evaluation, longitudinal disease management, and multidisciplinary care coordination.
- Participate in Bone Marrow Failure and other specialty clinics as assigned, with an anticipated 2.75 outpatient clinic sessions per week, supporting access and continuity for new and established patients.
- Perform procedures as clinically indicated, including bone marrow aspiration and biopsy and lumbar puncture.
- Provide consultation services at Texas Children's Hospital and affiliated network locations as assigned.
- Collaborate with stem cell transplant, genetics, immunology, pathology, and other subspecialties involved in the care of patients with bone marrow failure syndromes.
- Support clinical pathways, quality improvement initiatives, and program growth efforts within the Bone Marrow Failure Program.
Education
- Educate and supervise Hematology-Oncology fellows, pediatric residents, medical students, advanced practice providers, and other trainees.
- Contribute to academic conferences and educational activities within the Section of Hematology.
Research and Scholarly Activity
- Participate in clinical, translational, and/or basic science research related to bone marrow failure syndromes, telomere biology disorders, and related hematologic diseases.
- Support research initiatives and clinical studies within the Bone Marrow Failure Program and the Tier 1 Telomere Biology Disorders Center of Excellence.
- Engage in publications, presentations, and collaborative research efforts commensurate with faculty rank and academic interests.
Location
- The position is located at Texas Children's Hospital Main Campus in Houston, Texas.
Minimum Requirements
- MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
- Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience in bone marrow failure syndromes, inherited hematologic disorders, and related conditions.
- Prior to employment, must obtain a Texas Medical License and Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
- Eligible for appointments to the Baylor College of Medicine faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor.
