Job Title:  Assistant Coordinator, Ophthalmic Technology
Division:  Ophthalmology

Salary Range:  $47,372 to $55,731
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor College is Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an open Assistant Coordinator, Ophthalmic Technology position. The person assuming this role will provide clinical support to our optometrists, ophthalmologists and specialty contact and device fitters.   This position provides customer service to optometry patients including explanation of costs and obtaining of insurance authorizations for services.

This position is located at our McNair Campus.

Job Duties

Patient workups including history, medication reconciliation, and ophthalmic testing including: 

  • Performs wavefront aberrations.
  • Performs corneal topography/tomography.
  • Performs optical biometry.
  • Conducts corneal pachymetry.
  • Manifests refractions and/or auto refraction.
  • Performs Tonometry.
  • Inserts and removes contact lenses or optical devices.
  • Answers phone messages and patient questions.
  • Prepares and maintains patient rooms in clinic.
  • Schedules patient appointments and prepares patient charts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • No experience required.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in optometry or ophthalmology clinical practice.
