Summary
Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an Accountant who will perform intermediate accounting duties for a department or section, including, entering journal transactions, accounts reconciliation, and month-end processes. The Accountant will ensure that all transactions are made in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and federal, state, and BCM guidelines.
Job Duties
- Prepares monthly journal entries for assigned accounts and ensures that all account activity is recorded accurately and timely.
- Performs analysis of general ledger reconciliations and accrual entries.
- Reviews entries, verifies amounts and compares balances, and interpret trends or deviations from expected results.
- Reviews expenses and revenues incurred/received to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP.)
- Maintains complete and accurate files, including supporting documentation, for all reports, journal entries and analysis.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining financial records.
- Ensures vendor invoices are paid according to College policy and clears blocked invoices.
- Ensures that all transactions are made in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and federal, state, and Baylor College of Medicine guidelines.
- Assists with budget preparation and monitoring.
- Completes regulatory reporting.
- Complete audit requests from both internal & external auditors.
- May participate in pre- and post-award grant financial management activities.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare finance/accounting.
