Summary

The Department of Family and Community Medicine is looking to hire a Supervisor, Nursing for its clinical private practice, located in the Texas Medical Center, who will supervise clinical employees. This position will share responsibility for the daily coordination of patient care and clinical skills of medical assistants along with managerial and administrative duties as assigned. This includes contributing to process improvement and collaborating with the medical home team.  Clinic location is 6620 Main.

Job Duties

  • Manage time and attendance of two to three Medical Assistants at Baylor Family Medicine Clinic while overseeing and delegating clinical activities as necessary. This includes tracking of MA skills, and assisting leadership in evaluation and recruiting MAs.  
  • Handle and resolve all patient complaints located at Baylor Clinic- Family Medicine Practice.
  • Ensure professionalism and clinic etiquette is followed fostering a positive clinic environment.
  • Managing interoffice conflict.
  • Manage Faculty requests including same day provider changes - i.e. changes in schedule, call-ins, etc. 
  • Provide support as point of contact for laboratory vendor issues - i.e. panic/abnormal values.
  • Serve as Lead Administrative Supervisor in challenging situations - i.e. Responsible for incident report, communication and documentation. 
  • Attend all relevant meetings as needed and as directed by college and leadership.
  • Work closely with Director of Clinic Operations on disciplinary issues and deliver staff coaching.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding/offboarding of new Faculty and staff at Baylor Clinic.  
  • Under the general supervision of the clinic leadership the RN will perform direct and indirect nursing activities in accordance with the BCM policies and the Department memos.
  • Monitor and track medical equipment and supplies of the clinic - including medications and vaccines.
  • Create clinic schedule with departmental RN's and address staff shortages ensuring appropriate clinic coverage. 
  • Ensure clinics start on time.
  • Work closely with the clinic director to instruct, train, and assess clinical competencies of the Medical Assistants in order to maintain clinic flow, update triage protocols, train MA on the protocol, and monitor the flow of patients' messages.
  • Ensure MAs are compliant with all protocols (lab and clinical) and clinical policies and procedures.
  • Assist the clinic leadership to implement quality-assurance plans to improve the clinics care quality.
  • Provide care coordination under the supervision of the medical management to different identified patient populations.       
  • Apply nursing skills as needed by preparing patients for visits with providers by performing and recording vital signs; reviews patients' medical records for completeness and updates prior to patients' visit; assists in routine physical examinations and assists the provider as needed.
  • Perform selected screening tests; administer medications P.O. and IM; and perform and POCT tests as ordered by provider.        
  • Assist in processing and ordering clinic supplies.
  • Monitor for appropriate inventory levels.
  • Ensure proper logs are updated and maintained.
  • Identify and notify appropriate source for any clinic maintenance or any necessary equipment repairs.    
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • ​​​​​​Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Three years of relevant experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.  
  • Certification in area of specialty for non-BSN incumbents.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent computer skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
• Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills; written and verbal communication skills in English, and ability to work in a fast paced medical office environment.
• Must be a team player and demonstrate commitment to clinical care.
