Title: Student Helper
Summary
This position is available for students seeking summer internship opportunities. The Internship will provide an opportunity for the student to work closely with a Ph.D. candidate in the lab of Dr. Benjamin Deneen in order to improve technical skills while being given a developmental opportunity in a professional laboratory setting.
The aim of the research projects is to improve understanding of malignant brain tumors and how they progress in human disease. This research is executed using a combination of basic molecular biology techniques as well as in vivo mouse models of brain tumors.
Job Duties
- Takes notes of experiments and protocols in lab notebook.
- Performs set up and organization of basic molecular biology experiments including PCR, tissue processing, DNA purification processes and gel electrophoresis.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software.
- Knowledge of basic molecular biology principles and current technologies used in common lab settings.
- Interest in biological science and a special interest in neuroscience, cancer biology or developmental biology.
