Operate and maintain the Children's Nutrition Research Center (CNRC) facility. Design, install, diagnose and repair electronic controls and equipment to the board level.


Job Purpose

Maintains all aspects of the campus-wide Building Automation System (BAS) that controls all air conditioning, heating, exhaust, ventilation, and steam systems. 

Job Duties

  • Operate and maintain:
    • Chilled water and steam heat, excluding generation
    • Potable water distribution and associated equipment
    • De-Ionized water generation
    • Emergency power
  • Monitor energy management system (EMS) and all other facility support systems.
  • Some lifting (as much as 125 lbs.) and climbing is required.
  • Respond to and resolve BAS alarms.
  • Provide assistance with life safety or security situations as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven (7) years related work experience required with at least three (3) years in a medical, research or higher education facility.
  • Experience with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure.
  • Electrical skills, design, assembly, installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, repair, upgrading of associated electronic equipment and systems. Working with other technicians to design, troubleshoot, modify, repair equipment associated with research, building functions and operations.
  • Mechanical and plumbing skills and experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of electronic hardware, good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.


  • Advanced mechanical, electrical, controls and electronics training and experience required.
  • Available to work other shifts as necessary.
  • Use of ANSI class 75 safety shoes is required.
