Dr. Pengxiang Huang, Assistant Professor and CPRIT scholar, is seeking an enthusiastic Research Tech II to join his new laboratory in the Department of Molecular and Cellular biology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Dr. Huang's research focuses on elucidating the poorly understood mechanisms involved in the Hedgehog (Hh) and Wnt signaling pathways (Cell. 166:1176-87; Cell. 174:312-24). The Huang lab utilizes a combination of biochemistry, cell, chemical and structural biology approaches, including both X-ray crystallography and Cryo-EM. Candidates with experience in molecular biology and tissue culture are encouraged to apply.

Job Purpose

Performs the routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.

Job Duties

  •  Maintain clean and safe work environment.
  •  Order laboratory supplies and equipments.
  •  Prepare buffers and reagents for laboratory operations.
  •  Perform research experiments such as molecular cloning, tissue culture, cell signaling assays, protein expression and purification.
  •  Record and summarize research data generated from experiments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Experience Required: None Required.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred: Molecular cloning experience.
