Summary
The Epidemiology Program is the largest program devoted to pediatric cancer epidemiology in the US. The Program currently has several funded research projects focused on pediatric cancer etiology and survivorship. This position provides much-needed support to several of these projects through the following activities. Coordinating day to day activities of research protocols for the Epidemiology program and supporting all research efforts of the program. Daily activities include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants as well as ensuring accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. This individual should have excellent communication skills since study participants may be recruited in person, via phone, or email. The Research coordinator will also be responsible for completing all relevant study documents, maintaining research charts, providing study updates, and completing study progress reports. Bilingual candidates fluent in English and Spanish will be prioritized, but this is not required.
Job Duties
Specific Responsibilities
- Understand and adhere to the study protocol, including eligibility criteria, subject participation requirements, and target accrual goals.
- Interview, screen, and recruit patients for research studies; provide clear explanations of processes and procedures to educate participants about the study.
- Ensure research protocol objectives are met and all activities comply with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Collect patient information, process documentation, and accurately enter data into the study database.
- Prepare and present reports on study accrual and progress to the research team.
- Schedule study meetings and conference calls; prepare meeting agendas, participate in meetings, and track meeting minutes/notes.
Generic Responsibilities
- Collect, process, ship, and maintain specimen paperwork in accordance with study protocol procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and regulatory documentation for all research studies.
- Organize and manage study documents following protocol-specific guidelines.
- Communicate with patients throughout the study as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff in a team environment to ensure protocol objectives are achieved.
- Provide cross-coverage for other Epidemiology research studies as required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical Research experience.
- Spanish fluency.
