Summary

The Departments of Pediatrics and Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine are seeking a full-time clinical pain psychologist at the rank of Assistant Professor, non-tenured, Clinician-Educator focus. This position will hold a primary faculty appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pediatric Anesthesiology and a secondary faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Psychology at Baylor College of Medicine.  

 

The primary focus of this position will be provision of clinical services for children at Texas Children's Hospital with chronic pain, providing individual and family-oriented interventions. Primary responsibilities include a clinical commitment focusing on the interdisciplinary outpatient pain clinic and future participation of in-patient pain rehabilitation program, and providing both didactic and clinical instruction to trainees rotating through the pain service.

 

Candidates must demonstrate evidence of training and interest in pediatric pain medicine, have expertise in pain focused cognitive-behavioral therapy, and be eligible for State of Texas psychology licensure. Candidates with completion of fellowship in pediatric psychology, training in pain medicine interventions such as biofeedback and/or medical hypnosis, or prior experience in in-patient rehabilitation program are strongly preferred. 

 

Other desirable qualifications include clinical experience with interdisciplinary teams in an academic medical center and desire to conduct potential clinical and outcome research on aspects of pain treatment in children.

 

Education Required: Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Psychology or Psy.D. clinical, health, or school psychology from an American Psychological Association approved doctoral program.

Certification/Licenses/Registration Required: Eligible for Licensure as a Psychologist by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
